Grade four dragon is loving making these Candy Factory drawings. They are coming up with all kinds of candy worlds. Their last day to work is Friday and I can't wait to see how they all turn out!
Welcome back to yet another school year! I am excited to continues my role as Head of Art with Mr. Paul Thomas as the other art teacher on campus. This year I will teach Grade Three Panda all the way to Grade 8 TB. It's a very exciting new year at SUIS with loads of new art projects to present. The secondary school has a new 'block' with four new classrooms as well as an ICT suite and Art Room. I hope you come for Open Day this Saturday the 14th to experience all the new things in our school. Hope to see you soon!! These past few weeks have been busy with exam week, multicultural week and then a one day holiday coming up...these kids never stop! Our kids have been super busy in the art room too! Art Club has been very active this semester. We have done various projects with paint water balloons being the most recent. We filled up the water balloons with paint, and then threw them at a bunch of papers laid out to make a big canvas. We had such fun both filling the paint balloons and throwing them at the canvas! Grade five have been making underwater creatures for the past couple weeks. It has been slow because of exams but we're moving right along! They used cardboard for the base and then covered everything with paper mâché. It took ages! Finally, they painted it the colour of their underwater creature and we hung gem outside in the hallway. Grade four had a choose art day and some of the boys chose to make a 'tile land'! It has roads, bridges, and even little homes. Super cool and super creative. Last week was a short one because of Qing Ming Featival. We still got a lot of stuff done in the art room!
Grade 2 Panda made and painted the beginning of their mosaics. This is just the first part, because we will be making real mosaics with glass tiles and grout! Super exciting!!
Grade three Lion wanted to make a sign for the new 'Art Wall of Fame' bulletin board between the fifth and sixth floor, so I said, go ahead!! They got into groups and each made one word to add to the wall. We used every kind of material the art room had to offer and came up with a fabulous sign for our bulletin board. Good work grade three lion!
Grade four are making Moai sculptures from Easter Island using plaster and clay tools. It's difficult, but we're having a great time trying to imagine what it was like to make those huge sculptures.
Grade six is finishing their dessert containers. They look so real!!!! Since it seems I have been neglecting grade five lion, here are a ton of photos form today's class!!! We are finishing our clay dessert containers and they look SO REAL!!!
Yup that's right!!! There's another mystery artist!
This one is only for GRADE FOUR thpough, sorry guys! Don't worry though, there will be more mystery artists and you WILL get a chance to guess!! ;) All you need to do is find out who is the mystery artist and then fill out the form. You can submit your answers on the weebly form under 'Contact Ms.Tory' or you can go to Ms.Tory and ask for a paper form. Either way, write down your answers and give to me before the next class time, and you could be chosen to win a green card and/or a delicious surprise!!! The second mystery artist is very very easy!!! Here are the clues: 1) They are statues made of stone. 2) They are very old. 3) They are from a tiny island in the Pacific Ocean. There you have it! The easiest mystery artist EVER. Especially because you are studying it in Theme class right now!! |
