Grade six started printmaking today. Last week we used foam sheets to write our names backwards and then added a simple border. Today we started printing our names on practice sheets. Students really enjoyed inking up their foam 'plates' and seeing if their names would show up or not. Students had to experiment with how much ink to put on the plate, sometimes it was too much, and other times not enough! Once they got it just right they moved onto their final printing paper. We talked about complimentary colours and used them when choosing our printing colour. Some students finished and started on their sketchbook covers, others still need to print next week. No worries! Next week, everyone will finish printing, we'll add some small details with crayons and then we'll start a new project!! Students seem really excited about art this year-I hope this positive energy continues for a long time!!!!
I am the art teacher at Shanghai United International School PuDong Campus. I teach art to Grade Three Panda all the way to Grade Eight. I am also the Homeroom teacher for Grade8TB. Lucky them! Some students think I am famous, because everyone knows me at our school. :]
